EASY PAY SERVES UP AN ACE AT THE GRANBY NATIONAL BANK CHALLENGER

August 14, 2018

National Bank Easy Pay was a smash hit at the recent Granby National Bank Challenger tennis tournament. The Mobeewave-powered app – which turns a smartphone into a payment terminal – was used throughout the nine-day tournament, which was held at the Club de tennis des loisirs de Granby from July 21-29. With the solution enabling merchants at the event to accept cashless payments for the first time, organizers saw a 72% increase in transactions compared to last year’s tournament.

As announced in June, National Bank Easy Pay is a mobile point-of-sale solution developed by Mobeewave. The app allows users to accept payment in person using only their phone – without the need for additional cables, hardware or terminals. After registering for Easy Pay, users only need to download the solution to start accepting payments from their customers’ contactless credit cards or digital wallets. National Bank is the first financial institution in Canada to offer this innovative solution to small and medium-sized enterprises.

National Bank Easy Pay was used at the bar and restaurant tents during the Granby National Bank Challenger tournament. Armed with phones featuring the solution, the servers on site could easily accept contactless payments throughout the event. By allowing attendees to make cashless payments, the tournament organizers not only saw an increase in transactions in comparison to previous years, they also received positive feedback from customers regarding the speed of the easy-to-use solution.

The 2018 Granby National Bank Challenger was the 23rd edition of the international tennis tournament – which was first held in 1995. The Granby tournament features a mixed draw, with the men competing in the $100,000 ATP Challenger event and the women competing in the $60,000 ITF Challenger event. Canada’s own Peter Polansky defeated Ugo Humbert in the men’s final of this year’s tournament, while Julio Glushko of Israel beat Arina Rodionova in the women’s final.
