Mobeewave to Enable Contactless Donations at Robbie’s Rainbow Fundraiser

Attendees and participants at The Duffers 63rd Invitational Golf Tournament will be able to make contactless donations to Robbie’s Rainbow through Mobeewave’s payment acceptance solution. All proceeds from the tournament – to be held at Royal Woodbine – will go to the charity, which improves the lives of children living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Those wishing to give to Robbie’s Rainbow at the event will have the option to simply tap their contactless credit card or mobile wallet to a fundraiser’s smartphone to make a donation. The event was originally due to take place on May 25, but has been postponed due to bad weather.

Focused on helping children with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Robbie’s Rainbow provides access to medical treatments, procedures and care not covered by private or public health plans. The organization also builds educational resources for IBD children and their families.

A medical term used to describe two conditions – Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis – IBD is a chronic condition involving inflammation in part or all of the digestive tract. There are an estimated 6,000 children and teens in Canada living with IBD who rely on some form of drug treatment to stay in remission.

While many of these children and their families are able to manage the cost of treatments through private health insurance, compassionate funding or special programs, some are not so fortunate. Robbie’s Rainbow supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years of age living with the condition and are in need of access to critical treatments, procedures and care.

Dating back to 1955, The Duffers Invitational is one of Canada’s oldest charitable golf competitions. The country’s third longest running golf tournament, the Duffers has a rich history of supporting charitable organizations.
